Development of demostrative solutions to reduce the water contamination of agrarian origin in the Limia basin.
Beneficiario coordinador la Confederación Hidrográfica del Miño-Sil y beneficiarios asociados la Xunta de Galicia, a través de la Consellería de Medio Ambiente, Territorio e Infraestructuras, la Diputación Provincial de Ourense y las empresas Coren y Eco-Lagunas, mientras que la empresa Gas Natural participa como cofinanciador.
El proyecto “LIFE REGENERA LIMIA” es un proyecto financiado por la Comisión Europea a través del Programa LIFE+ 2013 “Política y Gobernanza Medioambiental - Agua”.
El proyecto tiene como principal objetivo hacer compatible la actividad ganadera con el buen estado de las masas de agua de la comarca de A Limia (Ourense).Tiene por objeto el adoptar las medidas necesarias para lograr el objetivo de reducir los nutrientes de origen ganadero en las masas de agua de la comarca de A Limia, utilizando para ello técnicas innovadoras que contribuyan a cumplir los objetivos medioambientales que establece la Directiva Marco del Agua y la normativa de transposición a la legislación española. Destaca el desarrollo de soluciones alternativas para la gestión de los residuos ganaderos con el ánimo de reducir su impacto en el medio ambiente como, por ejemplo, los humedales artificiales intensivos de macrófitos. En concreto, se apuesta por la creación de un sistema de lagunaje artificial como proyecto piloto de tratamiento de purines de porcino por medio de métodos naturales de depuración.
Está prevista la reconversión de antiguas explotaciones mineras de extracción de arena en un sistema lagunar de charcas que potencien la capacidad de depuración natural del curso fluvial y que contribuya a la recuperación de espacios húmedos en la ZEPA de A Limia , y también se llevará a cabo la recuperación ambiental de los cauces fluviales modificados y la regeneración y reconexión de sistemas lagunares para reducir la presencia de nutrientes en el agua y la eutrofización, a la vez que se recuperarán los ecosistemas locales de especial trascendencia en espacios incluidos en la Red Natura 2000.
