Con motivo de la declaración del Parque Nacional de la Sierra de Guadarrama en Junio de 2013, el Organismo Autónomo Parques Nacionales organiza esta exposición de carácter histórico, que pretende acercar este nuevo espacio natural protegido al visitante desde lo acontecido en los últimos cien años. En ella se hace un recorrido por los paisajes del parque, la etnografía, los oficios y las costumbres de la zona, el turismo y los deportes, la arquitectura, la industria, las comunicaciones, la cultura, la historia del lugar y la biografía de personas ligadas a la Sierra.
Esta muestra representa un reconocimiento a las generaciones precedentes que han sabido legar un valioso patrimonio cultural y educativo, y han dejado ejemplos de integración sostenible de actividades tradicionales con el entorno, determinando lo que hoy en día se protege, con el compromiso de garantizar su conservación para el futuro.
